I’d much rather go Stastny on a shorter term than what ever Kadri would bring.
Use this time to figure out what you still have in Monahan. Look to deal some of our prospect capital for a different centre who’ll require less commitment or be better value than UFA Kadri. I won’t bother to suggest who, since I never in a million years would’ve thought “trade for Jonathan Huberdeau” was going to be the solution to the Tkachuk problem and the Gaudreau problem at the same time.
The flames now have three recent 1st round selections, and four 1sts in the next three drafts. They have the assets to make another big addition up front. And let’s be real - Darryl Sutter isn’t going to put any of these children in big time situations for another three years, never mind anyone we might pick with the next three 1sts. I’m not advocating trading all of them, obviously, but two of them?
Hell yeah.
They don’t need to tie themselves to 32 year old Nazem Kadri.
