The common stance is that Calgary ownership doesn't want to rebuild because of the playoff revenue -- get in and anything can happen! I've previously read (a while ago) that a home playoff date brings in about $1M in revenue, so last year with 7 home playoff games, that would be an an extra $7M revenue (approx.).
Are the Flames one of the teams that "breaks even" during the season, so playoff home games are the chance to make a "profit"? Is that why ownership always want to get there (to make any money for the season) or is it just lots more additional revenue during the season because ticket prices are higher, etc.?

The rebuild thing doesn't make sense since rebuilding teams typically spend well below the cap. The money lost in playoff revenue would be saved on salaries.
Maybe they are more worried about regular season attendance dropping below certain levels. That would make more sense IMO.
