I get the feeling - based on the flow of humors and spirit energy and nothing more - that we see Weegar locked up long term before the season starts but not Huberdeau.
The latter may not be a bad thing as it's unlikely Huberdeau's contract value can go higher than it is based on his play this upcoming season. If he does elect to sign once he's had a chance to get to know the city and the team, it might cost a smidgen less than inking him today.
All in all, if we do end up with Weegar, pick, prospect, and the deadline acquisitions for Huberdeau it's still likely to look like a big win for the Flames given the situation.
