Oilers management is pure buffoonery, so the Nurse example can be ignored.
Jones is an almost but not quite elite defenseman, probably overpaid by 1.5M-2M per year.
I'm not convinced that Weegar is an elite defenseman. I would love to be proven wrong on this, but 8x $7M or above would be a crazy risk unless he proves to us this season that he is elite or close to.
