As someone who grew up in Calgary but moved after college to various places in southern USA, the summer in Calgary is as good as it gets. The southern heat is dreadful but that’s also off-season for hockey so many go back home. So being in warmer weather and near beaches is a very attractive thing. Plus, you aren’t recognized every single place you go even though there are still some very die hard fans in those markets, just a lower % of population.

The fall, winter, and spring in the south are incredible and it’s one of the reasons I haven’t made more of an effort to move back home to Calgary.

I am not trying to throw shade because I love my hometown and miss a lot of things about it. Just trying to provide some perspective for many who arent homegrown in calgary.
