For what it's worth, Gaudreau handled things less professionally than Fox too: Fox was clear about his intentions and played by the (dumb) rules. He sucks, but you're right that it's not dissimilar to Tkachuk, who used the rules to get what he wants.
I don't like what Tkachuk or Fox did, but I like what Gaudreau did even less.

Bottom line, JG wanted Philly or Calgary.And if not Philly, Calgary. Agent strung him along to the last hours that Philly was in it.
When Philly was out, he tries to convince the wife on a last second attempt that it should be Calgary. He didn't win that conversation with a pregnant wife, so plan C it is.
Gaudreau had a lot more legitimate desire to be here then Fox or even Tkachuk after, as Philly06Cup says, made a business decision not to play this season when he signed here years ago.
