Florida still has a #1D (Ekblad) and #1C (Barkov) so I can see why Tkachuk saw them as an interesting destination. They may not contend this year but they ostensibly do have the pieces to build around. Calgary never had both those pieces while Tkachuk was here. We had Giordano in 2017 and 2018 but no #1C. Giordano by the 2019 playoffs had aged out of #1D level play and we never really got a #1C since.
