^^^ There isn't anyone on the current roster that should be untouchable. Everyone should be available at the right price, and that right price should be quality futures. The problem with making deals at the deadline is half of the teams are already out of the mix. You limit your market by half. Waiting until the deadline also means just strictly futures deals, so a hockey trade is very unlikely. Waiting until this deadline is going to filled with a lot of risk. Teams may not be inclined to give up their first round picks, even if they are solidly in the playoff picture, because this draft is suppose to feature a lot of depth. I suspect you see more 2024 picks moved than 2023 picks because of this. The last thing I want to see is Treliving being left with a decision to sit on Huberdeau and Weegar because we are on the bubble to make the playoffs. Get the deals done before the season start. Extensions or trades, just get them done.
