I can't blame Tkachuk and his agent for taking a similar deal to what other young players were getting that summer any more than I can blame Treliving for giving it to him.
That was the flavour of the day.
Would be interesting to see if the Flames had the cap space to take him 8 years at that time if he would have signed it or pushed for the three year high exit year value contract.
Then you'd know he wanted out.
But I don't blame them for getting the leverage that was the flavour of the day at that time (Meier, Sergachev, Point, Boeser)
