Treliving somehow brought in a player who was tied for 2nd in scoring in the league last year AND helped gain future/young assets. The entire thought process around basing the deal around futures for me was that there was no way we'd get a player as good as Chucky for *right now*...but then he went and did just that AND got futures AND also got a top pairing defenceman.
It's an impressive bit of work.

And even in the worst case scenario, they can both be dealt for futures at the deadline if necessary. It’s a trade that has a Plan A and a Plan B built right into it.
