1. Who in the system or in free agency could possibly replace the 104 points + everything else that Tkachuk brought?
2. Team is still tight on cap space and as we’ve heard and seen, moving money has proved to be difficult for a lot of teams this offseason. Improving the team will be difficult without cap space.
3. Training camp would be ideal, but in reality, it might take longer which is what makes a one year rental piece very risky. There’s new coaches, new systems, new environment and everything else that comes into play too.
4. What bias? I like Darryl. But there’s no doubt he’s abrasive. Didn’t you hear Gaudreau on Spittin Chiclets talk about how angry Darryl was all the time and how much crap he’d break? Ironically, Johnny still liked him though. But still, we don’t know how a guy coming from Andrew Brunette will react to an old school guy like Darryl.
5. If this team is fully entrenched into a playoff race, which I suspect that’s where they will be. I’m not so sure Treliving trades them. He didn’t trade Gaudreau. Treliving is win mode now, that’s why he also signed Zadorov. If he was in rebuild mode, then he would’ve traded Tkachuk for all futures.
