i know huby was probably not going to stay but this trade is horrible for us. I’m sorry, there’s just no other way to look at this, we gave up so much.

straight up, tkachuk is not better than huberdeau, adding weegar and a 1st makes this absolutely maddening.

i already discussed this in another thread... Huby might score a nice amount of points but he's not a significant factor in whether the panthers win or lose any given game. He's not a difference maker.

this makes absolutely zero sense to me. Losing huberdeau is a huge loss.

Replacing weegar's minutes is no easy task and there isn't anyone on the roster that can do it. Forsling and ekblad are a great starting point but gudas is a big drop off from them. No chance this team touches ice with those as the top-3 defenders going into next season.

like others have said, i think huby gets more than $10 million on his next contract. And weegs probably gets around $6 million or more on his. And i think zito would rather eventually pony up for bobby forsling instead.

we gave up a #### ton for chuck. Obviously the fact that contracts didn’t get done with huby and weegs as quickly as barky last year was an indication that sides were not close.

Now we need to add on defense and not even going to try to speculate who would be the trade piece we give up for that.

really didnt think we needed tkachuk and the price is horrible for that. Guess it will be similar season as the last one, nobody cares defence.

we overpaid, but huby was always a frustrating player by overpassing, not taking his shots and being too predictable, especially on the pp. Weegs was way overrated with that plus/minus stat, dude was making unforced giveaways with regularity and that decision making in the tb playoff game was a defining moment. Love tkachuk's toughness. Would love if zito went after kadri too, but probably no room.

if this trade was hubey for chucky then i'd be fine.. I just think we sent way to much. Not a big fan of this for next year.. After that who knows

I like the balls of zito. Not easy to trade a franchise guy like huberdeau. But i easily like tkachuk > huby for the future, assuming he was demanding a similar contract to what mt just got.

But replacing weegar is going to be tough. Not sure if he's your whipping boy or not for the blunders he has, but i'm an analytics guy and he's a darling for that. So do you think zito is going to just go into the season with what he has on defense and pretty much punt the season and use the cap space ya'll will have next year to get the replacement?

too bad kadri is looking for stupid money. He’ll turn 32 right before opening day, i’d trade reinhart’s 6.5per and sign kadri for 4yrs at 6.5per but someone will probably pay up even more. 8+ on a shorter term deal? Someone may, but he’d be great to have here.
