wow this is wild. We got worse but man did we need a guy like tkachuk.

i imagine contract talks fell through? Another 1st round pick gone?
I don't feel great about this return but tkachuk opens up the window again. Tough to say bye to huberdeau like this but he was gonna sign the same deal as tkachuk anyway. Big team shift incoming.

bruh huge overpayment. He’s a really good player but f***
|
Quote:
zito's been making terrible deals value-wise and looks like he's not going to stop anytime soon.
|
Quote:
jesus the balls on this guy.
Knee jerk reaction is sadness over losing huby ☹️ let’s see if that changes
|
Quote:
i know huby was probably not going to stay but this trade is horrible for us. I’m sorry, there’s just no other way to look at this, we gave up so much.
|
Quote:
straight up, tkachuk is not better than huberdeau, adding weegar and a 1st makes this absolutely maddening.
|
Quote:
wow. It's a lot. Guess the contract talks weren't going well and weegar and huberdeau were asking for too much.
|
Quote:
goddamn zito truly is the anti-tallon. He's throwing out first rounders like its candy.
|
Quote:
also, wtf why couldn't the flames take horny? You'd think that package would have been more than enough.
|
Quote:
both go to market in my opinion. Not a chance either one stays in calgary. Especially huby with walsh as his agent, they’re gonna want to cash in.
|
Quote:
i already discussed this in another thread... Huby might score a nice amount of points but he's not a significant factor in whether the panthers win or lose any given game. He's not a difference maker.
|
Quote:
this makes absolutely zero sense to me. Losing huberdeau is a huge loss.
|
Quote:
florida just went from kind of soft to really f***ing annoying real quick.
|
Quote:
you have to imagine zito has more work ahead of him.
Replacing weegar's minutes is no easy task and there isn't anyone on the roster that can do it. Forsling and ekblad are a great starting point but gudas is a big drop off from them. No chance this team touches ice with those as the top-3 defenders going into next season.
.......right?
|
Quote:
draft picks? Who needs them?
Ok if this was huby and weegs for tkachuck i’d be like swell, sad but swell.
But yeah unnecessary to pay them on top of that.
|
Quote:
shocked... There must be more to this story, but also excited for tkachuk
|
Quote:
weegar and huby were definitely at the strip club.
|
Quote:
like others have said, i think huby gets more than $10 million on his next contract. And weegs probably gets around $6 million or more on his. And i think zito would rather eventually pony up for bobby forsling instead.
|
Quote:
what the f***. I just got out of watching nope and saw this.
I'm conflicted man. Huberdeau being gone sucks hard, i didn't see that coming.
|
Quote:
man i haven't played the nhl games in a few years now but this trade really makes me want to sign up to ea play and fire up nhl 22 to give this squad a go :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

we gave up a #### ton for chuck. Obviously the fact that contracts didn’t get done with huby and weegs as quickly as barky last year was an indication that sides were not close.
Now we need to add on defense and not even going to try to speculate who would be the trade piece we give up for that.
|
Quote:
really didnt think we needed tkachuk and the price is horrible for that. Guess it will be similar season as the last one, nobody cares defence.
|
Quote:
we overpaid, but huby was always a frustrating player by overpassing, not taking his shots and being too predictable, especially on the pp. Weegs was way overrated with that plus/minus stat, dude was making unforced giveaways with regularity and that decision making in the tb playoff game was a defining moment. Love tkachuk's toughness. Would love if zito went after kadri too, but probably no room.
|
Quote:
if this trade was hubey for chucky then i'd be fine.. I just think we sent way to much. Not a big fan of this for next year.. After that who knows
|
Quote:
oh boy..
Love huberdeau. Will really miss him. Wont miss him @ 10m x 8 years.
Weegar. Thank god we didnt sign him long term at 6-7m
thachuk love the kid. Steep price. If zito knew he wont be able to resign the two for reasonable price its a good trade
|
Quote:
somehow this is so kodak black's fault
|
Quote:
it's so awful reading about this trade around the internet
99% people dont understand there ufa to be. Will command crazy deals you dont want to give 30 year olds
people are grading this trade as we traded both these guys with good contracts
|
Quote:
if ekblad gets hurt we are so f***ed.
|
Quote:
lightning fan coming here in peace.
I like the balls of zito. Not easy to trade a franchise guy like huberdeau. But i easily like tkachuk > huby for the future, assuming he was demanding a similar contract to what mt just got.
But replacing weegar is going to be tough. Not sure if he's your whipping boy or not for the blunders he has, but i'm an analytics guy and he's a darling for that. So do you think zito is going to just go into the season with what he has on defense and pretty much punt the season and use the cap space ya'll will have next year to get the replacement?
|
Quote:
too bad kadri is looking for stupid money. He’ll turn 32 right before opening day, i’d trade reinhart’s 6.5per and sign kadri for 4yrs at 6.5per but someone will probably pay up even more. 8+ on a shorter term deal? Someone may, but he’d be great to have here.
