I’ll probably be in the minority on this one, but if there is no extension on Huberdeau, then this is one of the most shortsighted and desperate trades I’ve ever seen. It’s like we traded for for a bunch of 1 year rentals of a Johnny Gaudreau clone, 1 year of Weager, Schwindt and a first rounder 3 years from now.

This trade sounds a lot better than it actually looks IMO. It’s basically going all in for 2023 and if after, Huberdeau and Weager decide to test the market, then what did we really get out of it?

Matthew Tkachuk’s (extended) value was off the charts and could’ve kick started badly needed rebuild or at the very least, necessary futures with long shelf lives, potential and team control.

Not a fan of this trade. Too much risk without enough upside.
