Meh, I like stepping in those landmines. I know "guys" isn't fine anymore in some lame circles, but in my life it's not a career-limiting move to dig in on being all, 'GFY for getting offended at something non-offensive.'
IDK why, but people usually find it funny if you don't get all apologetic. I did send a boomer woman home crying once when I offended her, but I refused to apologize other than to patronize her with, "I'm sorry you feel that way" & "I'm sorry you interpreted what I did as anything other than fun."
It's also interesting that it can be a bit of an alpha move that people - for some weird reason - respect. Like, if you get all hat-in-hand apologetic for your
terrible transgression it drops you a peg in the pecking order. I guess it's what Donald Trump does, but he cranks it to a billion. Keep it at under, like, 10, and you get respect by not conforming
too much on this ####.
