The carrot to taking Tarasenko as part of the deal would be flipping him to another team before the deadline.
But this is why he can't be the "key part", the focus should be the younger roster player & pick/prospect(s).
STL will need to address their cap situation somehow to sign Tkachuk, but we'll see whether that's all part of the same trade or a separate trade solves that.
I still think he ends up in NJ & we get Holtz, 1st & Bratt... or a reduced return would be a different cap dump instead of Bratt (Tatar?... would be similar circumstance to Tarasenko, trade Tatar at the deadline, albeit for less return)
