I wonder how the discussions go to get this done.
Obviously Treliving's talking with other GMs to sort out a deal...
Tkachuk (his agent) is talking with other GMs to sort out a potential contract...
At some point either Treliving has to go to Tkachuk and say "we have a deal ready to send you to X if you'll sign there", or Tkachuk's agent approaches Treliving with "Matt will sign in X if you trade him there".
Problem is to maximize the trade return for the Flames, "X" probably should be at least 2 or 3 teams.
It's fine to say Tkachuk has a list of teams he'd be willing to be traded to, but those teams also have to be willing to sign him, and Tkachuk has to like the contract to sign it.
Maybe Tkachuk says he wants to make $___/yr, and Treliving has to negotiate that contract as part of the trade discussions (the very rare sign & trade)? Not sure if that makes it easier or more difficult...
