I guess the thing I was wondering was that when he was an RFA, any team could have approached him to discuss a contract even without Treliving's permission. With arbitration being selected, does that remove his RFA status completely, or can teams still openly contact him? I know they can't give him an offersheet, but I wasn't sure if they still couldn't talk to him period.
The thing that worries me is let's say Brad works out a favourable deal with NJ and assuming NJ was on Tkachuk's list, if St. Louis heard about it, they could call Tkachuk and say they made an offer too, then Tkachuk could take NJ off his list if he preferred going to St. Louis (or insert whatever team Tkachuk might prefer). Kind of like what Iginla did when it was leaked that there were competing offers for him. That was different of course because Iginla had an NMC, but the implications are the same.
Such a scenario would really put Treliving at a disadvantage.
