I truly don't understand why we can't round up the homeless, warehouse them in Airdrie (with food, shelter, clothing, bed, running water, etc.) and allow them to leave once housing and a job has been set up. I understand some people can't work...let's build some indestructible buildings that can't be trashed and let them live there for free.
I'll probably get some hate for that, but honestly, I'm 45 and have been hearing people blather on about solving the homeless crisis for years. When I was young it was blamed on alcohol. Aged a bit and then it was crack. Got a little older and it was blamed on mental illness. Now are we at opioids? Meth? Cost of living? I've lost track other than to know literally nothing we've tried has done anything and - in fact - the problem gets worse with each passing year.
Is my plan kind of like prison? A bit, I guess, except the path to getting out is completely within their control. Especially once they get clean. If mental illness is holding them back, then we really need to fund permanent living facilities for them and allow them to enjoy life without having to pitch a tent on a riverbank beside a bunch of methed out freak-a-zoids.

Maybe a bit further? If they ever got out they would be back in downtown Calgary in like 15minutes.
