I think this will start happening to other teams as well and players will be acting more like NBA stars who move around a lot and plot to play with other stars in big markets.
For a small Canadian market team like the Flames this is absolutely terrible and we better build through the draft to have any chance of ever winning a championship again. Even then, you likely lose your superstars after their ELCs so this really could be the death of hope for teams like us.
With the added emphasis on sports gambling, I think being a hockey fan 5-10 years from now is going to be a completely different thing than what we grew up with.

Yes and no. I can see stars picking where they want to play more often but I think the salary cap prevents multiple stars playing together and winning.
