A popular stance but not for me.
If being a terrible team for a while was a guarantee of winning it all in the future, sure. There are however far more examples of terrible teams remaining bad and not winning it all than there are of the Cinderella stories.
And as Flames fans we know a few rough seasons can last a lot longer than expected.
I'd rather try to punch a ticket to the playoffs every single season and see how far we get. Without mortgaging the future each time. But that's just me.
