It's a franchise defining moment here that started with Gaudreau.
It's a scary time to be sure. Hockey in Calgary is in for so many possibilities:
-Years of mediocrity.. not good enough for playoffs but not bad enough for high picks (Most likely outcome)
-Years of Endless rebuild where we can seem to make the right picks to build a contender from, we become a bottom feeder that can't seem to ever find an identity
-Franchise moves cities after no new arena deal materializes and Edwards decides this team no longer is viable to make money and sells the team to an American buyer.
-Rebuild works.. We make a solid 1st round pick with our return on tkachuk (extremely rare), find another couple of Gaudreau/Brodie type picks in the later rounds, our prospect in the return turns out to be a stud.. our farm prospects fill the remaining holes. Bam we got a team that can be a contender again in 4-5 years.
Hard not to be pessimistic in these trying times but a competitive team takes time and players like Gaudreau and Tkachuk aren't things you replace simply by "rebuilding". Things will likely get darker before the dawn again.
Or maybe they wont! I don't know. haha

Ithought we still had our first next year? It was the 2022 pick this year that was traded for toffoli... unless I am totally out to lunch.
