The fact that Tkachuk wants to sign a long term deal this year and not to go to free agency, he probably knows how hard it will be to replicate 100+ point season next year so if he wants as much money as possible he should sign right now. So most likely scenario is him being traded to one of the teams he would be willing to sign long term with and those teams competing with each other to get Tkachuk
