Honestly, I think the NHL is going the way of the NFL/NBA, and star players jumping around will be a common thing, regardless of their country of origin. The world has changed, and the demographics of hockey players have changed. These aren't country boys making it to the big time. A large portion of the top end hockey players are now the financial elite, who've been groomed by elite private schools, coaches, and development programs.
Players will only play for the team they've been drafted on as long it will push their careers forward.
