Tkachuk is an extremely good player, but his contract situation decreases his value considerably. He has the leverage in any contract negotiation, so he can effectively pick his team.
Calagry will just be in the position of taking the best deal offered. Or be prepared to lose him for nothing.

For the right team, such as the Blues, this isn’t an issue. They know he has a desire or would resign. Same would go for the Devils. As such, I expect Treliving to get pretty good return on this deal.
