For one year of Tkachuk?
A stud piece under the age of 25 (say Stutzle) has more current value, as he's a stud piece under 25 with years of control at a cheaper price.
If Calgary can get two first round picks, they need to jump on it and run.
Tkachuk is an extremely good player, but his contract situation decreases his value considerably. He has the leverage in any contract negotiation, so he can effectively pick his team.
Calagry will just be in the position of taking the best deal offered. Or be prepared to lose him for nothing.
