Chances are STL and OTT would both prefer to trade assets and ensure they get exclusive negotiating rights with him I would think.

Well and if Tkachuk is willing to sign longterm in multiple places, the team that trades for him gets him for 8 years. The team that does not trade for him keeps their assets and does not get Tkachuk. If Tkachuk is only willing to sign in one city the Flames are in a real tough spot. Hopefully he has multiple places where he would sign longterm this summer in.
