I wasn't happy that we didn't get assets for Gaudreau but an 8 year deal is a tough pill to swallow. If Tkachuk wants a 4 year deal @ $10M, sign him and deal him at the draft.

I'd be pushing for 5, takes him to 29 and gives him another big money contract as a UFA for his career earnings. Anything less than that becomes harder to swallow. BUT Imo, the move the flames made to arbitration tells me Tkachuk was indicating he was going to go for the QO unless something stupid was sent his way.
Bad news from insiders leaning into the trade. This has to be one of the worst weeks I can ever recall as being a fan. Fitting, as a flames fan, that after we had the best season many of us can ever recall (which still ended in a bitter playoff disappointment) we are treated to a week of our young superstars kicking us in the nads. All things in balance, with the balance being 51% pure disappointment, 48% snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and 1% ethereal glimmer of hope.
