Why is everyone wanting to trade the guy now? The Flames did this so they could have some clarity on the situation earlier rather than going through an extended negotiation period. This will allow the team to decide on a new direction much earlier than if the negotiations were drawn out the entire off-season. Matthew is cutthroat during negotiations and he now has a time limit for being ruthless. I only see this as a positive for the Flames and a brilliant move by Treliving.
