I think arbitrations usually get scheduled in mid-August, depending how many there are.
I would be interested to know if the Flames can argue for a two year award. I am guessing no, since he could have been eligible for UFA status in one. I doubt the arbitrator can take a year of UFA eligibility away.
What this really does is buy some time to figure out if they can work out a long term deal. It also suggests that they probably thought that Tkachuk was just going to accept his QO. I doubt the Flames were worried about an offer sheet as that would probably just help them sign him by matching, or get back four 1st rounders.
