Or he can sign a long term deal and ask for a trade in a year. What happens if he has a terrible year? What happens if he has an injury plagued year? What happens if Sutter decides he wants to play guys who want to be here more minutes and his numbers suffer? Do you really think he is going to risk any of that when he is coming off a 104 point season? Especially a guy as business savvy as his family is? It would be a ridiculously bad decision on his part. Sign the big ticket and then if you want out next year or later you can ask for a trade and if he gets a NMC which he almost certainly will he can control his destination.
