Isn’t it that if a player files for arbitration, the player gets the arbitrated amount but the team gets to pick a 1-year or 2-year term? If so, I imagine Tkachuk isn’t filing for arbitration to guarantee that he can take his 1-year, $9M qualifying offer and go to UFA ASAP.
