As for income we are a single income household, so I pay all the carbon tax and was really annoyed when they switched it from me to her. It's an easy fix to transfer it but it caused confusion as to not getting it.

Carbon tax rebate goes to the person whose tax return is assessed first. It has nothing to do with gender or being the lower income earner. In our house, I receive that credit while my significant other gets the child tax credits.
