I’m not a fan that’s hoping to drop big dollars on Kadri but without question our biggest glaring need even when Gaudreau was here has been a number 2 centre, especially ever since Mony started breaking down with his health. Do I think Kadri’s output last year is sustainable, especially on a team without the fire power of Colorado? I do not… but the Flames are in a tough spot with this core and if the message right now is to push to win I don’t see how they don’t try to get Kadri. The drop off in the UFA market at centre is considerable
Where do you guys sit with this? Obviously if we are dropping the kind of money it’ll take to land Kadri we’ll definitely need to shed Lucic salary and may need to find a way to shed Mony down the road. Tkachuk is the key in all of this as investing in a Kadri makes no sense if you can only get Chucky to commit to a 1 year qualifying offer… so yet again we are stuck at the mercy of a decision with one of our star players. Hopefully Treliving can navigate a quicker decision this time; ultimately I’m of the opinion that the team commits to a reload of some fashion and trade Tkachuk this off-season while focusing on trading some of our other pieces at some point through the season after determining where the team is at.
