It really depends on the phrasing of the conversation.
"If you give me this offer, I'll take it."
Is a lot different than:
"If you give me this offer I'll consider it."

This is where I'm at - I think the sides weren't necessarily on the same page about what getting to an 'agreeable' number meant. It would probably behoove 13's camp to make that crystal clear...maybe did and just didn't format it like: "if you get to 10.5
then we'll consider it" ...it's also easy to imagine a game of telephone where Gross uses those exact words to Tre, who relays it to Murray/other execs without the last 4 bolded words (conclusions are jumped, insanity ensues).
As for the rumour posted here (and now apparently repeated by folks like Friedman):
- BT or Murray or whoever else might confirm this would not necessarily be wrong to say that Johnny "asked" for 10.5
- 13's camp would not be wrong to say it was always about meeting a minimum threshold to make a final yes/no decision
Remember there seemed to be a pretty long delay for any kind of 'counter-offer' from 13's camp...could have been just not wanting to show their hand too much for whatever reason
