Totally agree. This really sucks for the Flames both on the ice and optically, but I can't blame JG for simply wanting to try somewhere new, even if it may have backfired on him a little. There are a lot of unverified rumours and speculation, while some may be true, I think people are filling in the gaps to justify their anger.

I suspect there is some middle ground where JG could have been more courageous and clear, but I also suspect that Treliving wasn't taking no for an answer either and wasted a lot of time himself. Management should have done a lot better reading the situation over the past year or 2. Gaudreau was always a flight risk and the signs were always there from day 1. Maybe Gaudreau fouled up the last few weeks, but Treliving is the one who brought it to that point to begin with.

Be rationally angry at both sides I guess, but ultimately, it is Brad's job to look after the Flames, read situations, and plan accordingly - not Gaudreau's. He obviously failed to do that in this case.
