Kind of in line with this, I've always thought the criticisms of Tkachuk trying the between-the-legs type moves really bizarre. He's one of few players who can turn an awkward slot position into a shot and, more often than he should, a goal or a good chance. Significantly better than just putting the puck into the pads or passing it out of the slot, but some fans seem to read it as "getting too fancy" or whatever.
The only real criticism I see with Tkachuk is that he has an on/off switch and it seems like mucking it up fires him up 90% of the time, but then there's a random 10% where he just shuts down completely after it. I think that continues getting better with maturity though. Would like to see him figure it out as a Flame.
