The part I'm personally speculating about now is this is probably why Johnny hasn't really addressed The Flames, fans and etc. directly yet, likely very stung by the whole ordeal but I also think he knows he really botched this.
Last piece I'm personally speculating about is that I do not think Columbus was very high on his list but his wife was very open to it, especially after everything else fell thru on their top destination(s).

This connects several dots of the last 48 hours so very plausible to me.
1. Explains the rejected offer confirmed by some sources to be 8X10.5 which is exactly the midpoint between both parties initial offers. 9.5 and 11.5
2. It explains why Johnny ended up getting less. This was always about Johnny's wife/family not wanting to be in Calgary and not the dollars.
3. It explains why Johnny is suddenly sour on Calgary and has made no effort to say thanks. Being called out by Edwards.
4. It explains Johnny's BJ interviews and frequent looks to his spouse at those interviews.
5. It explains why would an athlete destroy his legacy with his beloved fanbase. They wouldn't. This decision was never his to make, even though he might have thought it was!
Poor Johnny. Best of luck to him.
