Run it back for Sutter’s last year with a roster that looks something like this:
Coleman - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Kadri - Toffoli
Pelletier - Backlund - Dube
Rooney - Monahan - Lewis
Duher
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Meloche
Valimaki - Mackey
Markstrom

Hope Monahan is finally healthy and can attract some bidders at the deadline or be valuable in the playoffs.
If things don’t go well then it’s time to tear it down the following season. Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev, Zadorov, Toffoli, and Backlund will all be pending UFA’s. Stack up on prospects and picks. Should at least be able to get a couple 1st round picks and few later round ones out of this group.
Markstrom and Tkachuk can go in the off-season for big hauls of picks, prospects, or young roster players (unless you’re able to get Tkachuk on an 8 year deal)
Rebuild is on and we’re left with Bread, Kadri, Coleman, Andersson, Kylington and maybe Tkachuk as the veteran pieces with a huge influx of young talent coming in the next 2-3 years. Starts with Wolf, Coronato, Pelletier, Zary, and Valimaki (hopefully he can turn it around).
Is it the best plan ever? I don’t think so, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Flames go in this direction. They aren’t waving the white flag on this season anyways.

I think this is actually close to what Tre and Flames will actually to do.
I'd start the dismantling and rebuild immediately given there are 3 potential franchise changers in the 2023 NHL draft, but Tre & ownership won't go this route. Guess it will also be super difficult to out-tank Hawks or Coyotes, probably Sharks this season...
Also wildcard is Mony - will he even suit up or go to the infirmary freeing up more cap space...who knows...It'll be tough to watch him again as a shadow of his former self...
