I think this a lot of this depends on what the coach sees in Tkachuk. If Sutter views him favourably, then I can see Treliving pursuing a long term extension. If the coach is not a fan, then I can see Treliving being more open to moving him. All moot if the player doesn't want to be here. And I agree with Ashax, NYI/NJD probably feel jilted by Johnny spurning them for Columbus, probably some motivation to make a big splash, NJD moreso than NYI (who knows what LL is thinking, and I can't see him being easy to negotiate with, whether that be on a trade (Treliving) or contract (Tkachuk).
