For whatever reason it wasn’t working out in NJ or Philly so Johnny and his agent had to come up with the next best compromise and approach CBJ for a sweetheart deal.
He and his wife are happier because at least they are closer to family (couldn't get closer, but hey at least he can show her he tried). The compromise is playing in Columbus and leaving $15M on the table.
It makes sense. I’m disappointed at how it played out, but not upset.

Who's to say when Johnny made his mind that he wouldn't be returning? Could have been after the loss to the Oilers, sometime in the 2 months leading up to now or even yesterday, I'm sure it was a hard decision that he went back and fourth on and he made his mind up at some point in the last week or so IMO.
Philly, Jersey, Columbus, its all the same ***t to me, its out east, closer to home, in a place where he will live in peace and quiet. Sometimes that becomes appealing after 9 years in a hockey crazed market.
BT could have been the leader and decision maker this organization needs him to be and a drop dead date for an answer should have been established so that the organization could be prepared to deviate to plan b, whether that was before this past season or during. Instead BT gambled and got burned.
It sucks, I mean i'm frustrated too, we just lost a superstar for nothing, but thats on management IMO, not Johnny. The higher ups in the organization need to start treating this like a business and not a country club, its mind boggling how they roll the dice on these assets, only to lose them for nothing.
