Suddenly, Treliving's weird, emotional press conference makes a bit more sense. I thought it was weird how definitive Tre was -- usually teams always say "he wants to hit the market, but we'll stay in touch and there's a chance we circle back." But he obviously knew there was no chance, no matter what JG and team were saying (maybe Johnny called him to make that clear out of some sense of loyalty or guilt, which would probably have been against his agent's wishes). In drawing a firm line, Tre ensured that Calgary couldn't be used as a pawn in other people's negotiations. I have some respect for that, though I still think he bungled this over the last 12 months.
