After yesterday, it would seem negligent to not go to Tkachuk and say something to the effect of “do you want to be here? If you don’t, that’s fine. Give us 5 teams you’d extend with for 8 years, and you’ll be on one of them by camp. If you tell us you want to be here and haven’t signed by September 1, that will be taken as a trade demand, and we will take the best offer we can get.”
