It's not blaming her, it's pointing out that he didn't exemplify the fortitude to put his hockey career interests above the interests of those around him.
Letting family decide the direction of your career isn't the actions of a strong man. And maybe Gaudreau just isn't that. Wherever he signed, he wasn't going to be kept away from his family at the end of the day. And its not like they've been suffering for the past 8 years.

You are calling Gaudreau not a strong man because he wanted to be by family/asked for their opinion? Nobody knows what the talks were in the Gaudreau family but I highly doubt he just went with whatever his family said. I'm sure that he wanted to be by family but what made it such a hard decision for him and took time was that he enjoyed his time in Calgary. Whether you make $11 M a year or 500 K a year, or 250 K a year, or 100 K a year or 50 K a year, family is still important.
