Flexibility is just unused potential. Which gets you nowhere unless you know with patience a huge opportunity is down the road (like a top forwards going UFA)
You have Sutter here as a bench boss. You're just going to sit on your hands and feel good about having cap flexibility while you suffer the hit of losing Gaudreau and not trying to replace that offense and wizzing away an elite coach year?
I think it's important they do something, as a message to their team (and guys they want to extend) as well as the fans.
Its important to be calculated about it, but to not just be idle & satisfied either.
