I'd like to think Brad wasn't that dumb. You don't put all of your eggs in the basket without pen to paper. Any businessman knows that.

If he got a verbal impressions from Gaudreau's camp that he would re-sign, and put blind faith in that promise, then he got caught like a rookie with his pants down.

I'm really hoping that wasn't the case.
