There are reasons for a team to offer Gaudreau $80 million, but the Flames' defunct offer is not one.

Nobody actually leaked a figure of 8x10.5. What was leaked a couple of days ago was 8x9.5, which was an initial offer that nobody expected Gaudreau to take. You don't build up a price for yourself by telling people that your existing employer is lowballing you.
Leverage. One simple word.

The same thing doesn’t happen organically if he says I want to go home on Garbage Bag day because teams can’t technically Negotiate with Johnny till tomorrow and the agent wouldn’t have leverage to flex on potential bidders.

Professional Athletes specially in hockey are like car’s they don’t gain value when you drive it off the lot and into your driveway.

You think buffalo likes that Jeff Skinner deal?
How about Karlsson in San Jose?

The figure wasn’t leaked? Your clearly just skimming threads or discredit peoples “chum in the water” as clout.
