I specifically said without going into LTIR. They have to be cap-compliant at the start of the season
before putting players on LTIR. If they need LTIR to be compliant after that point, they accrue zero cap space throughout the season.
Even filling those eight roster spots at league minimum is going to put them right against the limit.

And I'm afraid Murray is a downgrade on Campbell no matter how you shake it. But it seems to be the Leafs' MO to spend every discretionary dollar on forwards and cheap out on D and goalies, so here we are.
