Yes, considering the failures of the current core in the playoffs, I have no qualms and believe its the responsible thing to do as a management team to be firm and give him a date to either commit or not and if he doesn't do that you move on. They were coming off a missed playoff year with him last year, they lost twice in rd1 the years prior to that. It may not be the popular decision amongst the masses at the time, but we need leaders who can make tough important decisions like this.
Instead we are stuck with this, losing a player of that caliber for absolutely nothing. We've seen it before with other key members leaving for nothing or diminishing value cause you hold on way to long and get nothing. Its the main reason this team hasn't accomplished much in so very long. I'm extremely disappointed as a die hard Flames fan and it has nothing to do with Johnny, it all has to do with ownership and management.
