Don't get me wrong they would be awful in 2023, that said, they still have their 1st pick, and they are moving into a cycle where prospects are ready for spots on the team.
I think with solid Goal and D, which the Flames have locked up, there is always a punchers chance.
Most teams move in cycles of being competitive and non competitive, I know that the Flames peaked fairly low in this cycle, which is a part of what is frustrating, but down turns are always going to happen, and it isn't like Gaudreau and Tkachuk have brought in an era of sustained success.
