From JG’s camps point of view it might just be a bonus side effect of taking a long time to decide because Flames did not put an offer in front of him that was good enough to foresake JG’s well earned once in a career FA windfall. Every day that passed after the season ended, JG’s position got stronger.
Flames put themselves here and it was always up to them to pay for the privelege of avoiding a bidding war. This flea market negotiation style the Flames used if true was bush league.
